Rick Misitano joined the firm in August 2006 and has since signed on as a business partner and Senior Paralegal for the Law Offices of James M. Bosco and serves as a Notary Public in Massachusetts and Commissioner of Deeds in New Hampshire. His diverse experience brings an exceptional wealth of knowledge and skillset to the Law Offices of James M. Bosco that enable him to closely relate to people from all different backgrounds and circumstances allowing him to work easily with clients by understanding their needs and assisting in obtaining the best results possible.    

Mr. Misitano specializes in pre-bankruptcy & pre-foreclosure issues surrounding homeowners in addition to consumer credit issues effecting consumers. Specializing in pre-foreclosure short-sales and loss mitigation issues surrounding homeowners, Rick has helped countless numbers homeowners across Massachusetts and the country save their homes from foreclosure. He continues to diligently educate consumers with regards to the alternatives to bankruptcy and foreclosure and has helped numerous real estate agents avoid legal liability by educating brokers and their agents about short sales and the many legal pitfalls they can bring.

Responsible for the processing of administrative referral/authorization requests by working directly with patients, physician office staff, patient accounts department and insurance companies.  Ensured that data and all documentation were collected accurately and sensitively in order to provide a patient data base that supports the clinical and financial needs of the hospital.  Goal was to maximize reimbursement while serving the needs of internal and external customers. 

Obtained, verified and recorded personal, demographic and financial information via telephone and other electronic means. Collected this information accurately and comprehensively in a sensitive and timely manner. Verified patient insurance coverage with Third Party Payors, determined eligibility and benefits, and obtained referrals by utilizing appropriate technology. Retrieved referrals/authorizations from payors, documented all pertinent information, and linked these referrals to their corresponding appointments in the scheduling system. Documented and posted all required information in hospital registration, scheduling and billing systems in an appropriate time frame as defined by the department, so that the billing cycle may begin.  Extensive IDX, POS, Web-MD, NEHEN, PCIS, NHP, MassRevs, PatCom and other various system application usages.

Provider Relations Specialist - Responsible for responding to inquiries regarding provider issues such as requests regarding the addition of providers & hospitals to the network, fee schedule research, physician fee complaints and claim appeals for increased payments. Acted as a liaison for contracting and credentialing staff by facilitating physician background checks and expediting complaints against contracted physicians or facilities. Worked closely with the corporate legal team to ensure compliance of re-credentialing mandates for over 387,000 providers and 4,800 facilities nationwide. Resolved issues within set timeframes and worked within established corporate policies & procedures.  Maintained continuous communications with all relevant parties until issues were resolved.

Customer Service Trainer/Auditor – Responsible for the training and development of the customer service department to provide continuing education and job training for existing employees and management staff and to ensure the proper initial training for all new hirers.

Utilization Review Intake Coordinator – Obtained initial clinical information for elective or emergency admissions or procedures for the medical review process via Optimed & Facets systems. Obtained and verified all demographic and insurance information pertaining to the patient and all service providers. Verified network participation for all providers and initiated referral process on behalf of the patient. 

Customer Service Representative – Answered incoming calls in a very high volume call center which serviced over 150 insurance companies nationwide representing over 8.5 million enrollees.  Responsible for directing patients to appropriate medical providers and/or verifying a provider’s participation within their particular PPO, HMO, PCP, EPO or POS network of providers by utilizing the PAS system. Educated patients about their healthcare policies, provisions and pre-certification requirements.
